More Cortez Concept pieces

Here is another piece that I did to get a sence of what Cortez might look like if he had some kind of super glove power.

One of the earliest Cortez concepts. It was done with prismacolor markers on cranson paper.

One of the natives from the White Forest. Simply done with a red Bic pen on Recycled paper. Earlier versions of this animal had more "worms" on their faces and larger eyes. They are controled via the implant in their foreheads.

I would like to develope their story a bit mor in the future.

Sea-side

This little guy is one of the concepts for Cortez' home town. I liked the idea of him growing up as a fisher and sea-goer, I think that it help understand him a sky captain many years later. I also like the opposites of fire and water, with Cortez being an arsonist in his younger years before he was recruited by the Royal Navy.

I found some more over the weekend, I'll try to get some of it up soon.

This one id a bit light, but it is another concept for what an outpost in the Darkness might look like.

This is one of the earlier ideas of what a station in the Darkness might be like. The two tall towers would harness ambient energy, and that would keep the crystals charged, thus maintaining the fort aloft.

This idea of a blimp type air ships was the original ship for Captain Moirrey Eian Pherick. That was quickly abandoned due to the fact that it seamed out of place in his world.

The next choice was the tall cylinder type that was finally used in the book.

I found a few more things from Lookout Cortez, and I will try to get it up here before too long. I am having knee surgery later today, so it may be a while.

Here is a robo version of Theo. I think that I have one of Cortez riding him. I'll have to look fot that one.

The color one here is from the background story. It is called "Into the Sea." For those of you who never got the bacground issue, this is after the two heros fought the gods and lost. They were burned and their ashs were put into great urns, sealed by magic and then thrown into the sea.

There, a great monster took the urns so that they could never be brought back from the dead.

I think that it would make a good story by itself, but for now, not enough time for that.

I have been putting together some of the images that were done a while ago into one book. Some of them are really good, some suck. I'll put a few of them up after I get them loaged into photobucket.

I need to find a certain book that has alot of my iedas. If I can, I'll have a ton to put up.

This is another "cave" drawing. I've been working on it while in class. I get board sometimes.

This is a quick sketech of a Lord's house. In the story, there are various class levels. This would be the home of a higher class. It was done with markers on Cranson paper in about 3 minutes.

Here is some of the work from The Queen's Flying Zoo. Maybe I'll start a page just for the material from it. Just like everything else I do, this story was never finished. Well, it was never really started. I just drew a ton of stuff along the same lines and called it The Queen's Flying Zoo.

This is the winged bison mentioned in yesterday's post.

This is Svenn. He was the earliest version of Cortez. He may still come in as a charactor later in the story, but the fact that I am so new to story telling ( and that I have no idea of when I'll going to actually decide where the whole thing is going) mean that the may just be doomed to never be for than a concept. He's just done with a felt tip pen.

This is the first version of Cortez. It cam as a natural progression from a bunch of sketches called "the queen's flying zoo." Cortez is the game warden, in this short story, but I really liked the idea of him and started drawing stuff that I could use for his own story. I hope you like it. It's drawn with a grey 40% first, then a black felt tip to add the detail.

Most of my cortez stuff is in the same book and I never seem to have it when I'm near a scanner. I'll try to take it to scool with me on Thursday and scan some of my scribbles in then.

Busy, Busy

I haven't had any time to get anything posted here lately. Once I can find a scanner that works, I'll try to get some new art up.
